Unexpected Opening at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland/Case Western University Medical School
We have an unexpected opening in our Diagnostic Radiology program at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland/Case Western University Medical School as one of our current residents is transferring into an OB/GYN residency training program. We are looking to replace his ACGME accredited position with highly qualified applicants entering their PGY-3 or PGY-4 year to begin in July 2012.
Our program consists of over 60 attending Diagnostic Radiologists who read the entire spectrum of studies done at the main campus, multiple satellite hospitals and outpatient imaging centers. This variety and volume of cases provides a unique resident experience at our program which prepares residents well for either academic or private practice careers. Our hospital system performs over 800,000 exams a year. There are over 18 MR systems within the system including 3T clinical magnets, a new PET/MRI and a 4T human research magnet. The main campus also contains a state of the art major imaging research cooperative with the Case Center for Imaging Research.
We have recently increased the size of our residency class to 10/year. All rotations are done at University Hospitals or the Wade Park VA Medical Center (5 minute drive/bicycle ride from the main campus). The academic year is divided into 13 – 4 week rotation blocks. Residents rotate through all diagnostic radiology sub-specialties/board exam areas during the course of the 4 year residency, with elective time during their fourth year to do multiple "mini-fellowships." We have two teaching conferences a day (8 AM and Noon) with a dedicated core curriculum for each of the sub-specialties as well as case-based lectures throughout the year.
Any interested applicants should email their CV, 3 LORs (one of which should be from the current program director stating the resident's status within the program and their agreement with a possible transfer) as well as the program directors direct contact information to cynthia.patena@uhhospitals.org. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to meeting any interested candidates.
