Dear Program Director:

After 4 years of general surgery training and a year of basic science research, I have decided to change directions and pursue a career in radiology. Radiology appeals to the aspects of medicine that I love in caring for
patients, and my training thus far has afforded me strong clinical experience that would help me to succeed in the field of radiology. I work hard, I am a team player, and I have excellent communication skills. I feel strongly
that I can contribute greatly to the academic objective and to the diversity of your program.

Summary of my achievements: Step 1 - 93rd percentile; Alpha Omega Alpha member; Intern of the Year; NIH Institutional Ruth L. Kirchstein National Research Service (T32) Award.

Please consider me if you have any unexpected openings at an R1/PGY2 for July 2012. I can provide supporting application materials on request and can be reached at: echelon29@gmail.com

Thanks for your time.
