Dear Program directors,

I am currently a PGY1 internal medicine categorical resident at University of  Arizona medical center, currently seeking a PGY2 (R1) radiology resident position in 2009.

I became interested in radiology after completing a rotation in my final month of medical school at University of Texas San Antonio Health Sciences Center. By then it was already too late to apply for radiology  and I had already completed my application for residency in internal medicine. During the course of my first year as an internal medicine resident, I realized that my interest in radiology never waned so I decided to wait till after completing my first year of internal medicine residency to apply.

Applying for a radiology position in 2009 after having completed 2 yrs of internal medicine will no doubt enhance my clinical experience which will be of great benefit to me in my future endeavor as a radiology resident if accepted.

I can be reached at  210-287-0347.I would appreciate your consideration to invite me to interview and ultimately train in your institution.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Ekene Okolo,MD

Dear Program Director,

I am a PGY 2/R1 in urology seeking a PGY 2 position in radiology starting in July of 2008.  In residency, I have had an increasing interest in the interpretation of medical imaging and came to realize that my personality and interests would be best suited in a career in radiology, where my natural inclination for analysis, attention to detail, and interest in quality would be well applied.  My program has supported me in this decision and will attest to my strong work ethic, intelligence, and interpersonal skills.  In addition to my strong academic and clinical experience, I have authored a book chapter, co-authored a paper being reviewed for publication, and remain actively involved in two research projects currently.  I will be glad to provide letters of recommendation and supporting documents upon your request.  I am confident that given the opportunity I can become an excellent radiologist.

Sincerely,

Dear Program Directors,

I am a senior resident in a military radiology program and in need of a vacancy to complete my last year. I was granted a compassionate discharge from the military and have officially resigned.

I was always in good academic standing. The physics and written clinical exams were passed on 1st attempts. Everyone from my department supports my leaving due to family & medical reasons. Many will vouch that I am a hardworker, competent, & easy to get along with. My CV is strong.

I am capable of taking the oral board examination which no one expects me to have much difficulties.

Because of the beauracratic process of being officially discharged (honorably), most people surmise that I won't be available to start until September 2008 (at latest).

If you have any serious consideration of my candidacy, my program director would be more than happy to speak on my behalf.

Sincerely,

A former senior radiology resident

Dear Program Director,

I have recently finished my PGY-1 year in trauma/general surgery and I would like to switch to Diagnostic Imaging because I have a real fire in my belly for radiology. During my surgical internship, I was noted for attention to detail, excellent medical documentation, proficient clinical acumen, and ability to interact with staff and patients. My internship culminated in me receiving the coveted  Surgical Intern of the Year Award along with nomination for the Star Award, my hospital's highest honor for its medical staff.

Please consider me should you have any unexpected R-1 openings starting on July 2008.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
T.H. Leaven, MD

Dear Program Director:

My name is Jesus D. Buonomo and I am a  nuclear medicine resident PY-2 at Long Island Jewish Medical Center at New York (LIJ). Just recently I realized I needed formal Radiology training to better correlate interdisciplinary imaging modalities, as my attendings do. Their example and feedback solidify my decision to pursue a second specialty in Radiology to be eligible for dual board certification.

As part of my background I dedicated 2 years of my life to research at the NIH (Bethesda) on the field of Signal transduction. Particularly this experience motivated my decision to pursue a career in nuclear medicine, due to all the potential signaling pathways that can be imaged. By combining my experiences in research, nuclear medicine and radiology I know I will be able to make my contribution to the imaging
field.

Please feel free to call or email me to schedule an appointment at your convenience.

Dear Program Director,

I am currently a PGY 3 resident in Neurosurgery at UC Davis seeking a R1/PGY 2 opening position in Diagnostic Radiology.  I have had an interest in the field of radiology especially neuroradiology for awhile due to my background in the neurosciences.  I have a very strong academic and clinical background along with publications in textbook and journals.  I am willing to relocate elsewhere in the country and am ready to start in July 2008 or sooner.  I have strong letter of recommendations both from my neurosurgery and radiology departments here upon request.  I look forward to discussing my application further in the future.

Sincerely,

Dear Program Director:

I am inquiring regarding a position for the 2008 or 2009 year group (PGY2) in Diagnostic-Radiology. I have made a decision to pursue a second residency. I currently am board certified in Family Medicine and have practiced for 9 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences, however, I have a strong interest in radiology and welcome the opportunity to train in this field.

My background is predominantly military. I went to college on a ROTC scholarship and attended Wake Forest University Medical School on a HPSP scholarship (US Army). I trained in military Family Medicine residency graduating in the top of my class and have since served in academic teaching positions. As a young clinician I had the opportunity to serve as Associate Director of Residency Training in the largest Family Medicine training program in the US Army (39 residents). I deployed as a Battalion Surgeon with the 82nd Airborne Division in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and most recently stayed on as civilian faculty teaching staff at Fort Bragg, NC. This year I completed the Family Medicine Faculty Development Fellowship at UNC. I have numerous publications in peer reviewed journals and have 4 articles pending publication.

I would greatly welcome the opportunity to train in the civilian sector in Diagnostic-Radiology. I believe to possess the credentials that would make me an outstanding house officer. I am able to send copies of my Dean's Letter, performance evaluations, awards, licensure in the mail. Additionally, I can have my CV and LORs forwarded to your institution. Unfortunately, I did not apply through ERAS, however plan to for the 2010 positions.

I would appreciate your consideration to invite me to interview and ultimately train in your institution. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards
Robert Gauer, MD
