9/24/26 Dear Program Directors, My name is Paola Rios and I am currently a PGY1 Internal Medicine resident. I am writing to express my strong interest in securing a PGY1 or PGY-2 Diagnostic Radiology position. My work ethic is rooted in intellectual curiosity and a continuous capacity for growth across diverse environments. As a college undergraduate, I switched from a biological sciences to a food sciences major because I was interested in taking engineering courses. I have challenged myself both culturally and academically by conducting research projects abroad. As a resident in a nascent residency program, I have developed the ability to work independently while maintaining adaptability and flexibility as cornerstones of my job. These experiences have strengthened my capacity to approach problems with analytical rigor, intellectual flexibility, and resilience. Kind Regards, 5/26/26 Dear Program Directors, My name is Cagdas Ataoglu, and I am currently a Preliminary PGY-1 General Surgery resident at the University of Miami / Jackson Health System. I am writing to express my strong interest in Radiology. After graduating from medical school, I began Neurosurgery residency training in Istanbul under the mentorship of Dr. Gazi Yasargil and Dr. Ture. During that time, I developed a particular interest in vascular neurosurgery and the image-guided management of complex cerebrovascular pathology. My exposure to advanced neuroimaging and vascular cases played a major role in shaping my interest in radiology. After my first year of residency, I came to the United States for research and spent 2.5 years in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Wisconsin working with Dr. Mustafa Baskaya. During this period, I participated in multiple research projects focused on vascular cranial pathologies and imaging-related topics, resulting in several publications in the field. To date, I have authored or co-authored 24 published papers, with many additional manuscripts currently under review. I have also presented my research at national and international neurosurgery congresses and participated in medical student theoretical and hands-on training activities. I was also involved in preparing neurosurgical educational videos incorporating radiologic imaging for The Neurosurgical Atlas by Aaron Cohen-Gadol. This experience further strengthened my interest in radiology, imaging interpretation, and the critical role imaging plays in clinical decision-making. In addition, I had the opportunity to observe numerous endovascular and interventional procedures, which further increased my interest in vascular and image-guided specialties. I later matched into a Preliminary General Surgery position at the University of Miami, where I am currently completing my PGY-1 year. Through this training, I have become comfortable with the workflow of U.S. hospital systems, including Epic, perioperative management, consultations, and multidisciplinary patient care. I feel well prepared to contribute effectively from day one. I have successfully completed all USMLE examinations, including Step 3, and I am ECFMG certified. I am currently on a J-1 visa and would require continued sponsorship. My long-term career goal is to pursue fellowship training in Neuroradiology and potentially continue into endovascular or interventional fields that combine imaging with procedural care. As a surgical intern, I have gained extensive experience that has shaped my clinical perspective and professional interests. Through my training, I have developed a strong foundation in cross-sectional anatomy, perioperative decision-making, and the interpretation of diagnostic imaging in acute and complex settings. I have also become particularly interested in how imaging guides patient management, influences surgical planning, and contributes to multidisciplinary care. My time in surgery has strengthened skills that I believe are directly transferable to radiology, including attention to detail, pattern recognition, time-sensitive clinical judgment, and effective communication with diverse care teams. I have found myself consistently drawn to the diagnostic and consultative aspects of imaging, and I am eager to further develop these interests in a radiology-focused environment. Additionally, I have contributed to 19 peer-reviewed publications and have delivered multiple oral and poster presentations, experiences that have strengthened my ability to critically evaluate data, formulate meaningful clinical questions, and apply a rigorous, evidence-based approach. My name is Tanvi Sarwal, and I am a Nuclear Medicine physician currently based in Bellevue, Washington. I am writing to express my strong interest in securing a Diagnostic Radiology residency position beginning in July 2026. I bring a robust international background in medical imaging. I completed my MBBS at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) and earned my MD in Nuclear Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in India. My residency training included extensive experience in PET/CT, SPECT/CT and radionuclide therapies, along with a strong foundation in cross-sectional imaging. Following my residency, I served as a Senior Resident at Safdarjung Hospital, where I gained extensive experience in complex diagnostic cases. I have cleared USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 exams (score of 254). I have a strong academic and research background, including an oral presentation at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) annual meeting, publication of my thesis in the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (EJNMMI), multiple peer-reviewed publications, and over 10 conference presentations. I am particularly interested in academically oriented radiology programs that emphasize clinical excellence, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration. KPC Global Medical Centers, Inc. is a community hospital based GME institution located in the Inland Empire of Southern California, in a medically underserved area. Our Diagnostic Radiology program will unfortunately be closing, effective June 30, 2026, and we are seeking training spots for our displaced Radiology residents, as well as Transitional Year interns who have matched into Radiology for July of 2026. We understand that taking on additional residents can be challenging, particularly if your program is at or above complement. However, per ACGME and CMS guidelines, programs may accept displaced residents even if they are at their current cap, provided the educational environment and resources can support the additional trainees.
